Alan plays many different styles of music on both the electric and acoustic guitar, from jazz standards and modern jazz, to classic rock, Motown, and country.  He performs as a soloist or as part of a group and the size of the group can be adjusted based on the needs of the venue; from a duo consisting of guitar and bass or piano, to a 7-piece horn-based funk band.  Alan also leads a new band called 'Tale-Spinners of the DMV', a 5-piece acoustic group that covers a wide variety of music from artists such as Billy Joel, Alison Krauss, Ricky Skaggs, Bonnie Raitt, and Mark Knopfler.
